Volumetric flow
Convert US gallon per minute (US gpm) to litre per hour (L/h). Volumetric flow rate is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit time — the basis for line sizing, pump duty, and instrument ranging.
1 US gpm = 227.1247 L/h
To convert US gallon per minute to litre per hour, multiply the US gpm value by 227.1247. To go the other way, divide by 227.1247 (or multiply by 0.004402868).
| US gpm | L/h |
|---|---|
| 1 | 227.1247 |
| 2 | 454.2494 |
| 5 | 1135.624 |
| 10 | 2271.247 |
| 25 | 5678.118 |
| 50 | 11356.24 |
| 100 | 22712.47 |
| 250 | 56781.18 |
| 500 | 113562.4 |
| 1000 | 227124.7 |
Pump and line duties are quoted in m³/h or US gpm; instrument and utility flows often in L/min or ft³/s.
Volumetric flow depends on temperature and pressure for gases — convert on the same basis (actual vs standard) to avoid errors.
Worked example. A flow rate of 15850.32 US gpm is 3600000 L/h.
Multiply the value in US gpm by 227.1247 to get L/h. For example, 10 US gpm = 2271.247 L/h.
1 US gpm equals 227.1247 L/h.
