Volumetric flow
Convert litre per minute (L/min) to cubic metre per second (m³/s). Volumetric flow rate is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit time — the basis for line sizing, pump duty, and instrument ranging.
1 L/min = 1.6667e-5 m³/s
To convert litre per minute to cubic metre per second, multiply the L/min value by 1.6667e-5. To go the other way, divide by 1.6667e-5 (or multiply by 60000).
| L/min | m³/s |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1.6667e-5 |
| 2 | 3.3333e-5 |
| 5 | 8.3333e-5 |
| 10 | 0.0001666667 |
| 25 | 0.0004166667 |
| 50 | 0.0008333333 |
| 100 | 0.001666667 |
| 250 | 0.004166667 |
| 500 | 0.008333333 |
| 1000 | 0.01666667 |
Pump and line duties are quoted in m³/h or US gpm; instrument and utility flows often in L/min or ft³/s.
Volumetric flow depends on temperature and pressure for gases — convert on the same basis (actual vs standard) to avoid errors.
Worked example. A flow rate of 60000 L/min is 1 m³/s.
Multiply the value in L/min by 1.6667e-5 to get m³/s. For example, 10 L/min = 0.0001666667 m³/s.
1 L/min equals 1.6667e-5 m³/s.
