Volumetric flow
Convert US gallon per minute (US gpm) to cubic metre per second (m³/s). Volumetric flow rate is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit time — the basis for line sizing, pump duty, and instrument ranging.
1 US gpm = 6.309e-5 m³/s
To convert US gallon per minute to cubic metre per second, multiply the US gpm value by 6.309e-5. To go the other way, divide by 6.309e-5 (or multiply by 15850.32).
| US gpm | m³/s |
|---|---|
| 1 | 6.309e-5 |
| 2 | 0.0001261804 |
| 5 | 0.000315451 |
| 10 | 0.000630902 |
| 25 | 0.001577255 |
| 50 | 0.00315451 |
| 100 | 0.00630902 |
| 250 | 0.01577255 |
| 500 | 0.0315451 |
| 1000 | 0.0630902 |
Pump and line duties are quoted in m³/h or US gpm; instrument and utility flows often in L/min or ft³/s.
Volumetric flow depends on temperature and pressure for gases — convert on the same basis (actual vs standard) to avoid errors.
Worked example. A flow rate of 15850.32 US gpm is 1 m³/s.
Multiply the value in US gpm by 6.309e-5 to get m³/s. For example, 10 US gpm = 0.000630902 m³/s.
1 US gpm equals 6.309e-5 m³/s.
