Mass flow
Convert pound per second (lb/s) to pound per hour (lb/h). Mass flow rate is the mass passing a point per unit time — the conserved quantity in a material balance, independent of temperature and pressure.
1 lb/s = 3600 lb/h
To convert pound per second to pound per hour, multiply the lb/s value by 3600. To go the other way, divide by 3600 (or multiply by 0.0002777778).

Material and energy balances are written on a mass basis, so plant flows convert between kg/h, t/h, and lb/h constantly.
Relief loads and heat duties depend on mass flow, not volumetric flow — keep the two straight when a stream's density changes.
Worked example. A mass flow rate of 6.123952 lb/s is 22046.23 lb/h.
Multiply the value in lb/s by 3600 to get lb/h. For example, 10 lb/s = 36000 lb/h.
1 lb/s equals 3600 lb/h.
