Mass flow
Convert kilogram per hour (kg/h) to kilogram per second (kg/s). Mass flow rate is the mass passing a point per unit time — the conserved quantity in a material balance, independent of temperature and pressure.
1 kg/h = 0.0002777778 kg/s
To convert kilogram per hour to kilogram per second, multiply the kg/h value by 0.0002777778. To go the other way, divide by 0.0002777778 (or multiply by 3600).
| kg/h | kg/s |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.0002777778 |
| 2 | 0.0005555556 |
| 5 | 0.001388889 |
| 10 | 0.002777778 |
| 25 | 0.006944444 |
| 50 | 0.01388889 |
| 100 | 0.02777778 |
| 250 | 0.06944444 |
| 500 | 0.1388889 |
| 1000 | 0.2777778 |
Material and energy balances are written on a mass basis, so plant flows convert between kg/h, t/h, and lb/h constantly.
Relief loads and heat duties depend on mass flow, not volumetric flow — keep the two straight when a stream's density changes.
Worked example. A mass flow rate of 10000 kg/h is 2.777778 kg/s.
Multiply the value in kg/h by 0.0002777778 to get kg/s. For example, 10 kg/h = 0.002777778 kg/s.
1 kg/h equals 0.0002777778 kg/s.
Material and energy balances are written on a mass basis, so plant flows convert between kg/h, t/h, and lb/h constantly.
