Mass flow
Convert pound per hour (lb/h) to thousand pounds per hour (klb/h). Mass flow rate is the mass passing a point per unit time — the conserved quantity in a material balance, independent of temperature and pressure.
1 lb/h = 0.001 klb/h
To convert pound per hour to thousand pounds per hour, multiply the lb/h value by 0.001. To go the other way, divide by 0.001 (or multiply by 1000).

Relief loads and heat duties depend on mass flow, not volumetric flow — keep the two straight when a stream's density changes.
Worked example. A mass flow rate of 22046.23 lb/h is 22.04623 klb/h.
Multiply the value in lb/h by 0.001 to get klb/h. For example, 10 lb/h = 0.01 klb/h.
1 lb/h equals 0.001 klb/h.
