Volumetric flow
Convert cubic foot per second (ft³/s) to US gallon per minute (US gpm). Volumetric flow rate is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit time — the basis for line sizing, pump duty, and instrument ranging.
1 ft³/s = 448.8312 US gpm
To convert cubic foot per second to US gallon per minute, multiply the ft³/s value by 448.8312. To go the other way, divide by 448.8312 (or multiply by 0.002228009).
| ft³/s | US gpm |
|---|---|
| 1 | 448.8312 |
| 2 | 897.6623 |
| 5 | 2244.156 |
| 10 | 4488.312 |
| 25 | 11220.78 |
| 50 | 22441.56 |
| 100 | 44883.12 |
| 250 | 112207.8 |
| 500 | 224415.6 |
| 1000 | 448831.2 |
Pump and line duties are quoted in m³/h or US gpm; instrument and utility flows often in L/min or ft³/s.
Volumetric flow depends on temperature and pressure for gases — convert on the same basis (actual vs standard) to avoid errors.
Worked example. A flow rate of 35.31467 ft³/s is 15850.32 US gpm.
Multiply the value in ft³/s by 448.8312 to get US gpm. For example, 10 ft³/s = 4488.312 US gpm.
1 ft³/s equals 448.8312 US gpm.
