Volumetric flow
Convert oil barrel per day (bbl/day) to US gallon per minute (US gpm). Volumetric flow rate is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit time — the basis for line sizing, pump duty, and instrument ranging.
1 bbl/day = 0.02916667 US gpm
To convert oil barrel per day to US gallon per minute, multiply the bbl/day value by 0.02916667. To go the other way, divide by 0.02916667 (or multiply by 34.28571).
| bbl/day | US gpm |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.02916667 |
| 2 | 0.05833333 |
| 5 | 0.1458333 |
| 10 | 0.2916667 |
| 25 | 0.7291667 |
| 50 | 1.458333 |
| 100 | 2.916667 |
| 250 | 7.291667 |
| 500 | 14.58333 |
| 1000 | 29.16667 |
Pump and line duties are quoted in m³/h or US gpm; instrument and utility flows often in L/min or ft³/s.
Volumetric flow depends on temperature and pressure for gases — convert on the same basis (actual vs standard) to avoid errors.
Worked example. A flow rate of 543439.7 bbl/day is 15850.32 US gpm.
Multiply the value in bbl/day by 0.02916667 to get US gpm. For example, 10 bbl/day = 0.2916667 US gpm.
1 bbl/day equals 0.02916667 US gpm.
