Power
Convert megawatt (MW) to mechanical horsepower (hp). Power is energy per unit time — the rating of pumps, compressors, motors, and heat duties.
1 MW = 1341.022 hp
To convert megawatt to mechanical horsepower, multiply the MW value by 1341.022. To go the other way, divide by 1341.022 (or multiply by 0.0007456999).
| MW | hp |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1341.022 |
| 2 | 2682.044 |
| 5 | 6705.11 |
| 10 | 13410.22 |
| 25 | 33525.55 |
| 50 | 67051.1 |
| 100 | 134102.2 |
| 250 | 335255.5 |
| 500 | 670511 |
| 1000 | 1341022 |
Rotating-equipment duties are quoted in kW or hp; heat duties in kW, MW, or BTU/hr.
Electrical input, shaft power, and hydraulic power differ by the efficiencies between them — label which one a number refers to.
Worked example. A power of 0.1 MW is 134.1022 hp.
Multiply the value in MW by 1341.022 to get hp. For example, 10 MW = 13410.22 hp.
1 MW equals 1341.022 hp.
