Power
Convert million BTU per hour (MMBTU/hr) to kilowatt (kW). Power is energy per unit time — the rating of pumps, compressors, motors, and heat duties.
1 MMBTU/hr = 293.0711 kW
To convert million BTU per hour to kilowatt, multiply the MMBTU/hr value by 293.0711. To go the other way, divide by 293.0711 (or multiply by 0.003412142).
| MMBTU/hr | kW |
|---|---|
| 1 | 293.0711 |
| 2 | 586.1421 |
| 5 | 1465.355 |
| 10 | 2930.711 |
| 25 | 7326.777 |
| 50 | 14653.55 |
| 100 | 29307.11 |
| 250 | 73267.77 |
| 500 | 146535.5 |
| 1000 | 293071.1 |
Rotating-equipment duties are quoted in kW or hp; heat duties in kW, MW, or BTU/hr.
Electrical input, shaft power, and hydraulic power differ by the efficiencies between them — label which one a number refers to.
Worked example. A power of 0.3412142 MMBTU/hr is 100 kW.
Multiply the value in MMBTU/hr by 293.0711 to get kW. For example, 10 MMBTU/hr = 2930.711 kW.
1 MMBTU/hr equals 293.0711 kW.
Rotating-equipment duties are quoted in kW or hp; heat duties in kW, MW, or BTU/hr.
