Area
Convert square millimetre (mm²) to square metre (m²). Area sets heat-transfer surface, flow cross-sections, and footprints, in m² or ft².
1 mm² = 1e-6 m²
To convert square millimetre to square metre, multiply the mm² value by 1e-6. To go the other way, divide by 1e-6 (or multiply by 1000000).
| mm² | m² |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1e-6 |
| 2 | 2e-6 |
| 5 | 5e-6 |
| 10 | 1e-5 |
| 25 | 2.5e-5 |
| 50 | 5e-5 |
| 100 | 1e-4 |
| 250 | 0.00025 |
| 500 | 0.0005 |
| 1000 | 0.001 |
Exchanger surface is quoted in m² or ft²; orifice and nozzle areas in mm² or in².
Flow area scales with the square of diameter, so doubling a pipe's bore quadruples its area.
Worked example. A area of 1e+7 mm² is 10 m².
Multiply the value in mm² by 1e-6 to get m². For example, 10 mm² = 1e-5 m².
1 mm² equals 1e-6 m².
Exchanger surface is quoted in m² or ft²; orifice and nozzle areas in mm² or in².
