Volumetric flow
Convert litre per second (L/s) to US gallon per minute (US gpm). Volumetric flow rate is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit time — the basis for line sizing, pump duty, and instrument ranging.
1 L/s = 15.85032 US gpm
To convert litre per second to US gallon per minute, multiply the L/s value by 15.85032. To go the other way, divide by 15.85032 (or multiply by 0.0630902).
| L/s | US gpm |
|---|---|
| 1 | 15.85032 |
| 2 | 31.70065 |
| 5 | 79.25162 |
| 10 | 158.5032 |
| 25 | 396.2581 |
| 50 | 792.5162 |
| 100 | 1585.032 |
| 250 | 3962.581 |
| 500 | 7925.162 |
| 1000 | 15850.32 |
Pump and line duties are quoted in m³/h or US gpm; instrument and utility flows often in L/min or ft³/s.
Volumetric flow depends on temperature and pressure for gases — convert on the same basis (actual vs standard) to avoid errors.
Worked example. A flow rate of 1000 L/s is 15850.32 US gpm.
Multiply the value in L/s by 15.85032 to get US gpm. For example, 10 L/s = 158.5032 US gpm.
1 L/s equals 15.85032 US gpm.
