Density
Convert kilogram per cubic metre (kg/m³) to pound per cubic foot (lb/ft³). Density is mass per unit volume — it links volumetric and mass flow, sets hydrostatic head, and drives pump and relief calculations.
1 kg/m³ = 0.06242796 lb/ft³
To convert kilogram per cubic metre to pound per cubic foot, multiply the kg/m³ value by 0.06242796. To go the other way, divide by 0.06242796 (or multiply by 16.01846).
| kg/m³ | lb/ft³ |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.06242796 |
| 2 | 0.1248559 |
| 5 | 0.3121398 |
| 10 | 0.6242796 |
| 25 | 1.560699 |
| 50 | 3.121398 |
| 100 | 6.242796 |
| 250 | 15.60699 |
| 500 | 31.21398 |
| 1000 | 62.42796 |
Liquid densities are quoted in kg/m³ or as specific gravity; gas densities are much smaller and pressure-dependent.
Density converts a volumetric flow to a mass flow and vice versa — the single most common bridge in a material balance.
Worked example. A density of 1000 kg/m³ is 62.42796 lb/ft³.
Multiply the value in kg/m³ by 0.06242796 to get lb/ft³. For example, 10 kg/m³ = 0.6242796 lb/ft³.
1 kg/m³ equals 0.06242796 lb/ft³.
