Power
Convert kilocalorie per hour (kcal/h) to kilowatt (kW). Power is energy per unit time — the rating of pumps, compressors, motors, and heat duties.
1 kcal/h = 0.001163 kW
To convert kilocalorie per hour to kilowatt, multiply the kcal/h value by 0.001163. To go the other way, divide by 0.001163 (or multiply by 859.8452).
| kcal/h | kW |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.001163 |
| 2 | 0.002326 |
| 5 | 0.005815 |
| 10 | 0.01163 |
| 25 | 0.029075 |
| 50 | 0.05815 |
| 100 | 0.1163 |
| 250 | 0.29075 |
| 500 | 0.5815 |
| 1000 | 1.163 |
Rotating-equipment duties are quoted in kW or hp; heat duties in kW, MW, or BTU/hr.
Electrical input, shaft power, and hydraulic power differ by the efficiencies between them — label which one a number refers to.
Worked example. A power of 85984.52 kcal/h is 100 kW.
Multiply the value in kcal/h by 0.001163 to get kW. For example, 10 kcal/h = 0.01163 kW.
1 kcal/h equals 0.001163 kW.
