Length
Convert inch (in) to foot (ft). Length units span pipe diameters (mm, inch), plant dimensions (m, ft), and roughness (µm) — mixing metric and imperial is routine.
1 in = 0.08333333 ft
To convert inch to foot, multiply the in value by 0.08333333. To go the other way, divide by 0.08333333 (or multiply by 12).
| in | ft |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.08333333 |
| 2 | 0.1666667 |
| 5 | 0.4166667 |
| 10 | 0.8333333 |
| 25 | 2.083333 |
| 50 | 4.166667 |
| 100 | 8.333333 |
| 250 | 20.83333 |
| 500 | 41.66667 |
| 1000 | 83.33333 |
Pipe sizes are labelled in inches (NPS) but calculated in mm; equipment layouts mix metres and feet.
Velocity scales with the inverse square of diameter, so a small length error compounds quickly in flow calculations.
Worked example. A length of 3.937008 in is 0.328084 ft.
Multiply the value in in by 0.08333333 to get ft. For example, 10 in = 0.8333333 ft.
1 in equals 0.08333333 ft.
