Volumetric flow
Convert cubic foot per minute (ft³/min) to cubic foot per second (ft³/s). Volumetric flow rate is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit time — the basis for line sizing, pump duty, and instrument ranging.
1 ft³/min = 0.01666667 ft³/s
To convert cubic foot per minute to cubic foot per second, multiply the ft³/min value by 0.01666667. To go the other way, divide by 0.01666667 (or multiply by 60).
| ft³/min | ft³/s |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.01666667 |
| 2 | 0.03333333 |
| 5 | 0.08333333 |
| 10 | 0.1666667 |
| 25 | 0.4166667 |
| 50 | 0.8333333 |
| 100 | 1.666667 |
| 250 | 4.166667 |
| 500 | 8.333333 |
| 1000 | 16.66667 |
Pump and line duties are quoted in m³/h or US gpm; instrument and utility flows often in L/min or ft³/s.
Volumetric flow depends on temperature and pressure for gases — convert on the same basis (actual vs standard) to avoid errors.
Worked example. A flow rate of 2118.88 ft³/min is 35.31467 ft³/s.
Multiply the value in ft³/min by 0.01666667 to get ft³/s. For example, 10 ft³/min = 0.1666667 ft³/s.
1 ft³/min equals 0.01666667 ft³/s.
