Length
Convert foot (ft) to metre (m). Length units span pipe diameters (mm, inch), plant dimensions (m, ft), and roughness (µm) — mixing metric and imperial is routine.
1 ft = 0.3048 m
To convert foot to metre, multiply the ft value by 0.3048. To go the other way, divide by 0.3048 (or multiply by 3.28084).
| ft | m |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.3048 |
| 2 | 0.6096 |
| 5 | 1.524 |
| 10 | 3.048 |
| 25 | 7.62 |
| 50 | 15.24 |
| 100 | 30.48 |
| 250 | 76.2 |
| 500 | 152.4 |
| 1000 | 304.8 |
Pipe sizes are labelled in inches (NPS) but calculated in mm; equipment layouts mix metres and feet.
Velocity scales with the inverse square of diameter, so a small length error compounds quickly in flow calculations.
Worked example. A length of 0.328084 ft is 0.1 m.
Multiply the value in ft by 0.3048 to get m. For example, 10 ft = 3.048 m.
1 ft equals 0.3048 m.
