Energy
Convert therm (therm) to million BTU (MMBTU). Energy is the capacity to do work or transfer heat — the currency of every heat and material balance.
1 therm = 0.1 MMBTU
To convert therm to million BTU, multiply the therm value by 0.1. To go the other way, divide by 0.1 (or multiply by 10).
| therm | MMBTU |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.1 |
| 2 | 0.2 |
| 5 | 0.5 |
| 10 | 1 |
| 25 | 2.5 |
| 50 | 5 |
| 100 | 10 |
| 250 | 25 |
| 500 | 50 |
| 1000 | 100 |
Heat duties integrate to energy in kJ, MJ, or BTU; utilities are billed in kWh or MMBTU.
A calorie, a BTU, and a joule are all energy — keep the conversion factors handy when a spec mixes them.
Worked example. A energy of 0.03412142 therm is 0.003412142 MMBTU.
Multiply the value in therm by 0.1 to get MMBTU. For example, 10 therm = 1 MMBTU.
1 therm equals 0.1 MMBTU.
