Mass
Convert kilogram (kg) to tonne (t). Mass is the amount of matter — the basis of inventory, batch charges, and material balances, quoted in kg, tonnes, or pounds.
1 kg = 0.001 t
To convert kilogram to tonne, multiply the kg value by 0.001. To go the other way, divide by 0.001 (or multiply by 1000).
| kg | t |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0.001 |
| 2 | 0.002 |
| 5 | 0.005 |
| 10 | 0.01 |
| 25 | 0.025 |
| 50 | 0.05 |
| 100 | 0.1 |
| 250 | 0.25 |
| 500 | 0.5 |
| 1000 | 1 |
Batch charges and inventories are weighed in kg or lb; bulk quantities in tonnes.
Do not confuse mass with force: a kilogram is mass, a kilogram-force is weight under standard gravity.
Worked example. A mass of 1000 kg is 1 t.
Multiply the value in kg by 0.001 to get t. For example, 10 kg = 0.01 t.
1 kg equals 0.001 t.
