Mass
Convert kilogram (kg) to gram (g). Mass is the amount of matter — the basis of inventory, batch charges, and material balances, quoted in kg, tonnes, or pounds.
1 kg = 1000 g
To convert kilogram to gram, multiply the kg value by 1000. To go the other way, divide by 1000 (or multiply by 0.001).
| kg | g |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1000 |
| 2 | 2000 |
| 5 | 5000 |
| 10 | 10000 |
| 25 | 25000 |
| 50 | 50000 |
| 100 | 100000 |
| 250 | 250000 |
| 500 | 500000 |
| 1000 | 1000000 |
Batch charges and inventories are weighed in kg or lb; bulk quantities in tonnes.
Do not confuse mass with force: a kilogram is mass, a kilogram-force is weight under standard gravity.
Worked example. A mass of 1000 kg is 1000000 g.
Multiply the value in kg by 1000 to get g. For example, 10 kg = 10000 g.
1 kg equals 1000 g.
