Energy
Convert British thermal unit (BTU) to million BTU (MMBTU). Energy is the capacity to do work or transfer heat — the currency of every heat and material balance.
1 BTU = 1e-6 MMBTU
To convert British thermal unit to million BTU, multiply the BTU value by 1e-6. To go the other way, divide by 1e-6 (or multiply by 1000000).
| BTU | MMBTU |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1e-6 |
| 2 | 2e-6 |
| 5 | 5e-6 |
| 10 | 1e-5 |
| 25 | 2.5e-5 |
| 50 | 5e-5 |
| 100 | 1e-4 |
| 250 | 0.00025 |
| 500 | 0.0005 |
| 1000 | 0.001 |
Heat duties integrate to energy in kJ, MJ, or BTU; utilities are billed in kWh or MMBTU.
A calorie, a BTU, and a joule are all energy — keep the conversion factors handy when a spec mixes them.
Worked example. A energy of 3412.142 BTU is 0.003412142 MMBTU.
Multiply the value in BTU by 1e-6 to get MMBTU. For example, 10 BTU = 1e-5 MMBTU.
1 BTU equals 1e-6 MMBTU.
