Energy
Convert therm (therm) to kilowatt-hour (kWh). Energy is the capacity to do work or transfer heat — the currency of every heat and material balance.
1 therm = 29.30711 kWh
To convert therm to kilowatt-hour, multiply the therm value by 29.30711. To go the other way, divide by 29.30711 (or multiply by 0.03412142).
| therm | kWh |
|---|---|
| 1 | 29.30711 |
| 2 | 58.61421 |
| 5 | 146.5355 |
| 10 | 293.0711 |
| 25 | 732.6777 |
| 50 | 1465.355 |
| 100 | 2930.711 |
| 250 | 7326.777 |
| 500 | 14653.55 |
| 1000 | 29307.11 |
Heat duties integrate to energy in kJ, MJ, or BTU; utilities are billed in kWh or MMBTU.
A calorie, a BTU, and a joule are all energy — keep the conversion factors handy when a spec mixes them.
Worked example. A energy of 0.03412142 therm is 1 kWh.
Multiply the value in therm by 29.30711 to get kWh. For example, 10 therm = 293.0711 kWh.
1 therm equals 29.30711 kWh.
