Convert kilocalorie (kcal) to kilojoule (kJ). Energy is the capacity to do work or transfer heat — the currency of every heat and material balance.
1 kcal = 4.184 kJ
To convert kilocalorie to kilojoule, multiply the kcal value by 4.184. To go the other way, divide by 4.184 (or multiply by 0.2390057).

A calorie, a BTU, and a joule are all energy — keep the conversion factors handy when a spec mixes them.
Worked example. A energy of 860.4207 kcal is 3600 kJ.
Multiply the value in kcal by 4.184 to get kJ. For example, 10 kcal = 41.84 kJ.
